Privacy Policy
Homewizzy ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect your personal information, and how we comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using our website and submitting an enquiry, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
Homewizzy is a free service that connects Australian homeowners with independent, Clean Energy Council (CEC) accredited solar and battery installers. We are not an installer and we do not carry out installations ourselves.
2. What information we collect
We collect the personal information you provide through our enquiry form and website, including:
- Your name, email address and phone number;
- Your postcode and property address;
- Details about your property and enquiry (property type, ownership, whether you have solar, your approximate quarterly electricity bill, and the product you are interested in);
- Technical and usage information collected automatically, such as your IP address, approximate location derived from your IP, device and browser type, and the marketing source or campaign parameters (for example UTM tags) that referred you to us.
3. How we collect it
We collect information directly from you when you complete our form, and automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use our website. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.
4. Why we collect and use your information
We collect and use your personal information to:
- Match you with one or more independent CEC accredited installers who service your area;
- Enable those installers to contact you and prepare a quote or estimate;
- Respond to your enquiry and provide our service;
- Contact you (including by phone, SMS and email) about your enquiry and related solar and battery offers;
- Improve, analyse and secure our website and service; and
- Comply with our legal obligations.
5. Who we disclose your information to
The core purpose of our service is to share your enquiry with installers. We may disclose your personal information to:
- Independent third-party CEC accredited installers who service your area, so they can contact you and provide a quote. Once shared, each installer handles your information in accordance with its own privacy policy and becomes responsible for its use of that information;
- Our service providers, such as hosting, form, spreadsheet, address-lookup and analytics providers (including Google), who help us operate our website and service;
- Regulators, law enforcement or other parties where required or authorised by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Direct marketing and your consent
By submitting an enquiry, you consent to being contacted by Homewizzy and by the installers we match you with, by phone, SMS and email, about your enquiry and related offers, consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and the Do Not Call Register requirements. You can opt out of marketing from us at any time by contacting us using the details below or using the unsubscribe option in our emails. To stop contact from an installer, please contact that installer directly.
7. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers (for example Google) may store or process information on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Information is transmitted over encrypted (SSL) connections. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. How long we keep it
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our service and meet our legal obligations, after which we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
10. Accessing and correcting your information
Under APP 12 and APP 13 you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
11. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our website and understand how it is used. See our Cookie Policy for details and how to manage them.
12. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below and we will try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
